League cup defeat for Ladies

January 15, 2020

Lynn Ladies bowed out of the ERWFL Cup on Sunday when they were beaten by a late goal from Premier Division Royston Ladies.

On paper this was always going to be a tough fixture for the ladies and so it proved when the hosts took an early lead. Lynn though yet again showed plenty of fight and determination and this was rewarded when the reliable Tiffany Forshaw levelled things up with a fantastic free kick from fully 35 yards to ensure parity at the interval.

The hosts began the second half the brighter team and they retook the lead with a goal that their play deserved. Again the visitors refused to go quietly and Katie Ward rounded off a swift Ladies counter attack with a cool finish after withstanding sustained home pressure. However with only five minutes remaining there was heartbreak for Lynn as the host's took the lead for the third and final time of the afternoon to end the visitors League Cup hopes for another season.
