Lynn Ladies continued their fine run from 2019 as they opened the decade with a hard fought victory at Gorleston on Sunday.
Lynn travelled with only 13 players due to injury and illness and, with this being the first game for both teams since the Christmas break, the game began slowly. Rachel Skinner - playing her first game in 6 weeks due to injury - picked out Katie Ward who was inches away from connecting as the ladies created their first real chance of the match. They didn't have to wait much longer before they had the lead as Becky Russell picked out Skinner who in turn found Ward again. This time Ward made no mistake as she smashed the ball past the keeper for the games opener. However it was a lead that the visitors could not hold until the break as the host's equalised with a slice of luck as keeper Bryony Robinson's attempted clearance struck a home forward with the ball finding it's way into Lynn's net leaving the game level at the break.
The visitors got their noses back in front minutes after the re start as the inform Emma Corbyn found the net for the Ladies again with a powerful finish after more good work from Russell. Despite home pressure Lynn held on for 3 vital points to keep the pressure on leaders Cambridge City who they play at the end of the month.
Goals: Katie Ward and Emma Corbyn.
Player of the match: Georgia Freeman
