The Linnets turn their attentions to the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday when National League Dover Athletic visit The Walks for a first round clash ( 3pm). Town will be looking to continue their fine league form in Non League football’s premier knockout competition and continue their interest into the new year. However the test for Lynn will be a tough one against a side who play a level higher than themselves and have tasted victory no fewer than seven times in the league on the road this season to date.
Manager Ian Culverhouse will again be without centre backs Ryan Fryatt and Chris Smith who are both looking at returns to action in the new year. Sam Kelly will be assessed on Saturday following a groin niggle and Tom Ward is cup tied.
Saturday’s fixture will be decided on the day with Dover and the Linnets in agreement in not wanting a replay. If the scores are level after normal, and then extra time the match will be decided by a penalty shoot out.
The winners on Saturday will receive £4,500 in prize money with the losers picking up £1,500.
Season ticket holders are reminded that they do not apply for this fixture.
A minutes silence will be held ahead of kick off to remember club legend Mick Wright who passed away on Tuesday and also Les Phelps who, for many years, provided match day catering and hospitality in the stadium lounges.
The Reserves are on their travels on Saturday when they visit AFC Sudbury Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn, Division One North league.
On Sunday Lynn Ladies host East Bergholt in an ERWFL fixture ( 1:30 pm kick off, River Lane)
