Town extended their lead at the top of the National League North on Saturday with this 3 – 0 win over struggling Blyth Spartans at The Walks.
Manager Ian Culverhouse’s team plans were disrupted with both Sam Kelly (groin) and Tom Ward (concussion) both missing out but that seemed to have little effect with Chris Henderson giving the Linnets the lead after 16 minutes with a close range finish. The home side continued to create the better opening’s and Michael Gash increased the home lead 7 minutes before the interval , getting on the end of a neat move to convert a Henderson cross from six yards.
Lynn controlled much of the second half with visiting keeper Zach Hemming on fine form to prevent further goals but, with a minute remaining , he was helpless to deny Adam Marriott from two yards, following good work from sub Ryan Hawkins, to very much put the icing on the cake. Marriott's 21st league goal of the season.
With York drawing at Kettering and third placed Chester losing at Darlington it really was a perfect afternoon for the high flying Linnets who now lead the chasing pack by three points.
