It’s another home Saturday for King’s Lynn Town at the weekend as Blyth Spartans visit The Walks for The Linnets latest Vanarama National League North test (3pm).
The leagues midweek round of fixtures didn’t see Town in action but one significant match that took place saw second placed York City play their game in hand over Lynn at Hereford. The 2 – 2 draw ensured that Town stayed top of the pile by a single point heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Saturday’s visitors were also back in action following their 6 – 0 home reverse to Brackley Town the weekend previous and secured a fine 3 – 1 FA Trophy win at Alfreton Town as manager Lee Clark’s inconsistent season continued. Ahead of Saturday Spartans have to date a single away league success , a 2 -1 win at neighbours Darlington, but in general have struggled on their travels which hasn’t helped their league position , where they currently sit in 21st position.
On the other hand The Linnets will be looking to stretch their long unbeaten home run, which now totals almost 490 days , and to continue to apply further pressure on the league’s big hitters York and Chester. It appears that Ian Culverhouse will select from the same squad who defeated Gateshead last time out. It appears that both Chris smith and Ryan Fryatt will be sidelined until the New Year with injury whilst striker Harry Limb has returned to action following a lengthy illness lay off with a month’s loan deal to Boston Town .
The Linnets reserves kick off the weekend’s action when they entertain Downham Town at Wisbech’s Fenland Stadium on Friday evening (7:45pm). On paper this looks a tough fixture for Neil Fryatt’s young team with Downham sitting top of the Thurlow Nunn Division One North table on the back of a very good season to date.
On Sunday Lynn Ladies, currently enjoying a real purple patch of form, travel to Needham Market for a ERWFL fixture looking to gain more points as they continue to move up the league table. The match has a 1:30pm start time.
