League win for Ladies

December 3, 2019

Newmarket Town Ladies 0 King's Lynn Town Ladies 4

ynn Ladies continued their fine run of recent form with this dominant win at Newmarket on Sunday. The victory sees them continue their push up the ERWFL table , still having games in hand on opponents around them.

The visitors began brightly and their good work was rewarded with a goal from the top drawer with only 18 minutes played. Emma Corbyn collected  the ball on the edge of the area before cutting inside a defender and unleashing a stunning shot that ended up flying into the corner of the net giving the keeper no chance and Lynn the perfect start. The Linnets continued their good work and collected their second goal of the afternoon when the reliable Becky Russell’s cross shot evaded the keeper with the ball nestling in the Newmarket net . It got even better for Lynn on the stroke of half time as the overworked keeper could only parry Nikita Morris’s shot into the path of the onrushing Corbyn whose determination to get to the ball first paid off as she tapped the ball home from close in to put the Ladies firmly in charge at the break.

The visitors continued to boss the game after the interval with the only surprise being that they didn’t  add to their tally of goals until 8 minutes from time when Morris got the goal her afternoon’s work deserved with a great piece of individual skill before providing a stunning finish.

Players of the match: Lily Porter and Nikita Morris.

The Ladies are again on their travels this Sunday with a visit to Needham Market for another ERWFL encounter.
