King’s Lynn Town hit Leamington for five at The Walks on Tuesday evening and in doing so, moved just a point behind leaders York City in the Vanarama National League North.
In front of a healthy midweek crowd of 871 Lynn began brightly and had the lead on 15 minutes as Adam Marriott beat the keeper at his near post. Sonny Carey, whose late winner earned Town the points at the weekend grabbed another goal with a strike from distance just before the half hour with Marriott making it three with ten minutes of the half remaining. The visitors clawed a goal back before the break to make the score 3 – 1 at the interval.
Jordan Richards extinguished any hopes of an away comeback with a confident strike shortly after the restart to restore the home lead which meant that Town enjoyed, for the most part, a comfortable 45 minutes. Leamington gained a second in the final minutes but fittingly it was Lynn who had the final say as Michael Gash steered the ball home with two minutes remaining to complete the victory and ensure the Linnets a healthy nine points collected in the last week.
Lynn are on the road this Saturday with the long trip to Southport for another league fixture.
