The Linnets fought back from going a goal behind to beat Alfreton Town and progress to the third qualifying round of this season’s FA Cup.
In the third encounter of the season between the two teams it was little surprise that the two teams found themselves locked together at the interval as both enjoyed good goal possession but were unable to carve out clear cut chances.
That all changed shortly after the restart as the visitors Shane Killock nodded home from close range following a corner. The lead was to last only five minutes however before the in - form Adam Marriott levelled things as he drove the ball home from just inside the area. Marriott then turned provider when he set up substitute Nathan Fox to drill home the winner with 16 minutes remaining following a quick Town break.
Lynn: Street, Jones, Barrows, Jarvis (Richards), Fryatt, Smith, Carey, Payne, Kelly (Fox), Marriott, Henderson
Subs (not used): Stewart, Clunan, Bastock
The Linnets will now travel to Leek Town on Saturday October 5th in the third qualifying round.
Lynn reserves have league cup action this evening when they host Thetford Town at Wisbech Town’s Fenland Stadium (7.45pm).
