Youth Cup Preview
September 16, 2019
The Young Linnets return to The Walks on Monday evening when they play Brantham Athletic Youth in the national FA Youth Cup competition ( 7:45 KO).
In the previous round Lynn had to work very hard before seeing of Mildenhall Town by a 3 – 1 margin and Neil Fryatt, part of the youth management set up at The Walks, knows that more of the same will be required from his young charges on Monday evening. ‘ All games are tough and all present their own unique challenges and Monday will be no different’ said Fryatt. ‘ We have a good idea as to what Brantham are about and I’m honestly expecting a real battle. It’s always nice to have home advantage in a cup game at whatever level but we have to make full use of that on Monday evening’.
Fryatt is hoping for a good turnout of support for his team in a competition where last season his side made it through to the first round proper stage before bowing out in an away fixture at Northampton Town. ‘ The evening at Northampton last year was a very good experience apart from the result’ continued Fryatt. At this level it’s about player development and learning but achieving success along the way is always nice to achieve and it can allow for higher targets to aim for further down the line’.
