League sponsors Vanarama have been busy assessing the season so far - and what’s to come!
Lynn's story so far…
After defeat on the opening day, you could have forgiven fans for fearing the worst. But since that opening day downer, the team haven’t looked back. Two home wins on the bounce followed before a last-gasp penalty stole a point from Brackley Town on Tuesday night. Brilliant!
From the dugout...
Boss Ian Culverhouse saw their first loss as a learning curve and challenged his side to improve immediately. After their baptism of fire, they did just that and picked up their first win three days later.
Biggest result so far...
After such a decisive score line in their first game, the response was key. Maybe it was a good thing they were facing Kettering Town, a team who they know so much about after playing in the same league last season. A first defeat on the first day could’ve been a confidence killer but beating the Poppies 2-1 will have calmed a few nerves.
Last season’s top-scorer Adam Marriott has looked in fine fettle again for the Linnets. Keeping hold of him this summer was a must and he’s proving why he is worthy of the praise he gets.
League position: 7th
Home goals for: 5
Away goals for: 1
Home goals against: 2
Away goals against: 4
Top scorer: Adam Marriott (2)
What the fans are saying…
Fight and grit are top of most fans list - @widow77f was impressed, “well done Linnets fighting qualities on show.”
After their second win on the spin, are fans convinced they can do the unthinkable? @Cal3117 wrote, “Lynn are going up going up Lynn are going up!!”
But who is next up…
It’s a trip to AFC Telford who have been impressive at home in their opening two games. Gavin Cowan is looking to make New Bucks Head a fortress and that’s something the Linnets must be wary of.
Their one to watch….
Summer signing Chris Lait has looked at home since stepping up from the level below. His pace and guile can cause problems anywhere. Defender Steph Morley is a danger at both ends.
Last time out….
Good news for Linnets fans – last time the two faced off, they were the victors. An FA Trophy win back in 2012 saw them snatch a 3-1 win thanks to two goals in the final two minutes.
