Linnets face tough away test at Banbury

April 4, 2019

The Linnets begin the final month of the regular Southern Premier Central Division season with a trip to Banbury United on Saturday (3pm).
Town will travel with confidence and momentum after last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Halesowen Town made it four successive wins for Ian Culverhouse’s outfit.
With Stourbridge being held to a home draw by St Ives Town last Saturday favourable results in the weekend’s round of matches could see Lynn sitting second in the table with four games to play.
Two of Lynn's promotion rivals are the road with Alvechurch travelling to champions-elect Kettering and Stourbridge making the trip to Needham Market.
Banbury have had a mixed season, beginning the campaign strongly before falling away a little recently.
They will, however, be a big danger to The Linnets and have a good home record to date boasting a 4-1 win over Kettering Town and taking a point from Stourbridge.
Indeed, The Puritans are unbeaten against the top six at home this season, so a tough afternoon for the visitors looks to be on the cards.
The reverse fixture in September resulted in a 3-1 Linnets victory at The Walks with goals from Michael Gash, a Michael Clunan penalty and Harry Limb.
Apart from the usual knocks Lynn have no major injury concerns ahead of the weekend.
Before Saturday, King's Lynn Town Reserves have a West Norfolk derby with Swaffham Town on The Walks on Friday night (7.45pm).
Neil Fryatt’s young outfit are unbeaten in seven games but knows his team have a big task ahead of them on Friday evening.
Fryatt said: "The league table never lies and Swaffham are one of the best teams in the division.
"For us it’s another challenge, another learning curve for a set of very keen and talented young players.
"They are learning every week in playing games and training and will continue to do so as we move forward."
