Kettering Town 5 King's Lynn Town 1
A much-changed King's Lynn Town side crashed out of the City Security Services Limited League Challenge Cup on Tuesday night.
Lynn suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of their title rivals despite going an early goal in front at Latimer Park.
The Linnets made nine changes from the starting line-up which won 3-0 at Alvechurch on Saturday while the Poppies made six from the team that triumphed by the same scoreline at Needham Market.
But despite resting a raft of players, it was Lynn who took the lead in the tenth minute following an excellent run and finish from Frohawk.
Lynn's lead lasted all of three minutes as Declan Towers converted from inside the box to level the scores and, less than a minute later, it was the Poppies who were in front following a neat finish from Aaron O’Connor.
A shellshocked Walks outfit refused to lie down despite falling behind and Kieran Stannard went close to drawing the visitors level with a long-range effort in the 18th minute.
The Poppies increased their lead 12 minutes before the break via a Brett Solkhan effort from just inside the box.
Kettering made it 4-1 in the 78th minute when recent signing Dan Holman smashed home via the post before the same player completed the scoring six minutes later.
