The Linnets travel to Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday evening in their first away Southern Premier division fixture of the season ( Woodside Park 7:45 ). Town will be looking to build on their opening day success over Gosport Borough whilst the home side will be keen to bounce back following their 2 – 1 defeat at Tiverton Town.
Speaking exclusively to www.kltown.co.uk following Saturday’s win manager Ian Culverhouse said ‘ I’m pleased with the three points today. The first half from us was good I thought. We began with a good tempo, got the early goal via Michael’s penalty which settled us, and played some decent stuff. The second half wasn’t near what I want from the lads. We were at times a little sloppy which on one occasion almost cost us a goal and some of the fluency wasn’t there. We are still working on match fitness and that will come in time but generally it was pleasing and it’s three points but that’s all it is – three points’.
Culverhouse added ‘ I’m expecting a tough game on Tuesday as I am sure they will still be smarting from their defeat at Tiverton. I know a bit about them and would think that it will be a decent surface down there which will suit what we are trying to do. But it’s like all the games this season as in it’s what we do and how we go about our business – that’s all I’m interested in. If we apply ourselves correctly , go about thing’s the right way and everybody gives their all to this football club then we will be fine. The season is marathon and not a sprint, it’s a game at a time and we take it from there’.
The reserves have a local derby on Tuesday evening when they make the short journey to Swaffham Town for a Thurlow Nunn Division 1 fixture (7:45 KO). Rob Back’s side collected their first win of the season on Friday evening following a 2 – 0 success at Norwich CBS.
